What to do after an Auto Accident

Hi I’m Attorney David Farber with some valuable information on what to do if you’re in an auto accident. If you’ve ever been in an accident, you know how scary it can be.

First, stay calm, take a deep breath and make sure your vehicle has come to a complete stop. If you or anyone else is injured, call 911 and get medical attention. Your health, well-being and safety come first.

Turn your hazard lights on. Don’t move your vehicle unless you’re blocking traffic or you’re in an unsafe position.

If able, exchange information with the other driver, including name, phone number, driver’s license number and insurance policy information.

Once the police arrive, explain what happened.

If there are witnesses, get their names, addresses and phone numbers. Don’t rely on the police to obtain this information.

With your camera phone, take pictures of the vehicles and any skid marks.

After the accident, contact your insurance company. if you were injured, call an attorney who specializes in personal injury.
