The Adjuster Suggested Trenchless Sewar Repairs? Should I consider it?

If an insurance adjuster is recommending replacement/repair of your cast iron drain line, it means that there is no question that the work must be done to get your plumbing in working order. Regardless of whether there are damaged fittings or tree roots encroaching into your pipes or a collapse due to age/rust, there are two primary options available to replace those pipes. Depending on the language of your Policy, you may be entitled to the cost of trenching your home to access those broken pipes to replace them. But how you ultimately decide to repair/replace those pipes once you receive monies from your insurance company is up to you!

So, what is trenchless sewer repairs and is it right for you? There are two methods of trenchless sewar repairs, pipe bursting and pipe lining.

Pipe bursting is a technique in which an existing pipe is opened and pushed outwards using a bursting instrument. Utilizing a cable and winch, a hydraulic or pneumatic expansion head (part of the bursting instrument) is normally dragged through the existing pipeline. As the expansion head is drawn through the existing pipe, it pulls the pipe radially outward until it fractures, making room for the new pipe. The bursting device also pulls the new pipeline behind it, instantaneously filling the hole left by the old pipe’s rupture with the new pipeline. Pipe bursting can be used to replace an existing pipe with a pipe of comparable or greater capacity.

With pipe lining, a flexible pipe is coated with resin and dragged or blasted through the old pipe. The new pipe is put into position, inflated, and then the resin hardens to form a pipe inside a pipe. The diameter of the sewer line is slightly reduced by this procedure by around 1/4″. The majority of homes don’t require enough drainage to be affected by the difference.

What Are the Advantages of a Trenchless Sewer Line?

Installing a sewer line without digging a trench is typically less disruptive than replacing an existing sewer line. However, there will still be costs and disruption with access holes, damaged landscaping or driveway.

Are there drawbacks trenchless sewer lines?

Trenchless sewer lines can be more expensive up front, but this expense is likely less than the trenching of your entire home and building it back to pre-loss condition. And, like with all things, it will erode with time, but predictions have pipe lining lasting approximately 50 years!

How do you determine whether trenchless sewer lines are a practical option for you?

By getting quotes on the work for both trenchless and trenching, you can decide which option is best for you. Just remember, if going with trenchless, the insurance company will likely not cover the pipes replacement as pipes are never covered, only potentially access to get them and ensuing water damage. Therefore, it is imperative that you, before making any plumbing repairs/replacements, consult with competent legal counsel and/or a public adjuster.

Outstanding Legal Representation!

I can't thank The Farber Law Firm enough for their exceptional service in handling my legal dispute with an insurance company that initially refused to pay my vandalism claim. After an evicted tenant trashed my rental property, I was left dealing with extensive damages and an insurer that was unwilling to provide fair compensation.

Before hiring The Farber Law Firm, the insurance company offered me a low settlement that didn’t come close to covering my losses. Thankfully, with their expertise, I was able to recover significantly more than what was originally offered. Their knowledge, persistence, and negotiation skills made all the difference in my case.

From the start, they were professional, communicative, and dedicated to ensuring I got the settlement I deserved. They kept me informed every step of the way and fought hard on my behalf. I highly recommend The Farber Law Firm to anyone dealing with insurance disputes or legal issues involving property damage. They truly go above and beyond for their clients!
